With the coming in of the monsoon season and the possibility of infectious, bacterial, and infections transmitted to humans and other animals by blood-feeding, such as mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas, raising its ugly head, Mumbai recorded cases in which Covid-19 positive patients have screened for dengue.

A Lancet study released in March reports that dengue and Covid-19 are hard to differentiate owing to their "similar clinical and laboratory characteristics"

The report listed an example in which two patients in Singapore were later confirmed to have severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infections, the causative Covid-19 virus, with false-positive results from rapid serological testing for dengue.

The research further emphasized the possibility of serious health implications due to a positive dengue rapid test results in failing to determine the Covid-19 positive case.

"Our cases emphasize the importance of recognizing the results of false-positive dengue serology in patients with Covid-19.  We highlight the urgent need for rapid, sensitive, and accessible SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests, which must be highly accurate to protect public health, "the report said.
