DJ Giant will be your musical host for Songkran here at Phanganist Hostel! We’re starting the party early at 10am so get ready to get soaked and have fun!
Why did you start to DJ?
I started to DJ because I love music. I can listen to music for hours and hours, it’s my favourite thing. Music means so much to me.
To me, it means more than a beat and I want everyone to feel the same. I want everyone to hear deep music and good melodies, and raise the musical experience of everyone.

What kind of music are you passionate about?
I can play all kinds of music but I really love Deep House and Tech House. The music I like it might not have words or singing, but it still makes you feel what I’m giving to the crowd.
A lot of the music that is played in Thailand has no meaning to me.
How did you end up on Koh Phangan?
I started out as a DJ in Bangkok on Khao San road. There I played mostly EDM, but I wanted a change. Then I came to Koh Samui, and first worked in a reggae bar. Right now I DJ at Drop In Bar and will play at Phanganist Hostel for Songkran festival.
I came to Koh Phangan because I have a love for Deep House and Tech House music, and there is a lot of good music on this island. And in Bangkok people don’t like to play this type of music. I want to share good music with everyone, that’s what I came here to do.
Do you have any influences or inspirations?
DJ Mungkud and DJ Kwang first got me interested in Deep House and Tech House. In Koh Samui I saw DJ Mungkud and DJ Kwang play and what they were playing was so different to the kind of music I was playing at the time.
I really connected to this type of music and thought to myself one day I want to learn how to play this.

What is your goal as a DJ?
I want more Thai people to listen to Deep and Tech House. I can start with me first, then I hope slowly everyone will follow me and grow to love this music.
If today I only have one person listening to me, that’s ok. Maybe tomorrow I have two, and the next day I have three. Eventually I want everyone to understand what I feel about this music. I want to raise the level of the music in Thailand.
What do you hope you bring to the crowd at Phanganist Hostel on Songkran?
I want everyone to have a good time, and enjoy good music!
