Christmas is not an officially celebrated holiday here in Thailand as it is a mostly Buddhist Country. However as we all know, you don’t have to be strictly religious to celebrate and enjoy Christmas and with Koh Phangan being a Tourist island you can still find local events that will cater to your needs if you wish to celebrate whilst here.

You have probably come to this beautiful island to escape Christmas and the cold weather back home or maybe you live here and are feeling a bit homesick at this nostalgic time of year.

If you are staying in a hostel then this is a great time to get together with other travelers, maybe go out for dinner, to a party or spend time getting to know one another, bearing in mind that some young travelers may be missing home and their families at a time of year when it is tradition to be together.

If you want to eat the traditional ‘Christmas Dinner’ here on the island then there are plenty of restaurants that make it or why not go for Thai food, seeing as you are in Thailand...

Maybe you decide to make a celebration yourself, get friends round and cook up a feast, invite people to bring a dish or have a BBQ which is more fitting to the climate here in tropical paradise.

The great thing about Koh Phangan is that it is party island! Christmas is just another excuse for a party celebration and so on December 25th you can experience the Full Moon Party on Haad Rin beach without it being an actual 'full moon'.

Koh Phangan is an amazing place to be at this time of year and with the biggest celebration of New Years Eve just a few days away, we are sure this will be an unforgettable Christmas for all of you that are here!
